Is everyone ready to make smoke on Saturday....
Personally, I can't wait, I love the early MZ season and now that it's back to being 2 weeks long, it's twice as nice !!

I won't be making smoke, but I'm really looking forward to the chase. Good luck and take lots of pictures.

Somewhat related.....do you guys still have a lot of leaves on the trees in your area? I was thinking there's usually less leaves on the trees at the start of muzzleloader. Has a week made that much difference?

Yea the Shen valley still has most leaves on - the colors are peaking now so I imagine after next week or so they'll start droppping. Great time to be out in the woods!

I'm ready! Just have to choose which one to shoot. Got so many bucks around this year - like nothing I've seen before. I like the two weeks to hunt but only being allowed one buck I wonder what I'll do with the other 11 1/2 days. Guess I'll have plenty of time to cut up the meat. BTW, I've been butchering my own deer for over 40 years. I heard a comment the other day that the local butcher shop cost is too high for some and they aren't hunting as much as a result. I'd be glad to teach anyone what I know. You just have to bring your own deer.

Hey VAtrapperman, after you get your buck with your muzzleloader, pick the bow back up for the remaining days. I'm pretty sure bow season stays in until general firearms season.

You can still hunt with your bow after the 14th, during rifle season, you just have to wear orange. At least that's the case where I am in Pulaski County. You have to follow the harvest guideline for your area too, specific doe days, etc.

I believe that is correct for our area as well. However, with archery season still open during the early muzzleloader season you should be able to harvest a buck with your bow during this time along with one with the smokepole.
