DGIF – George Washington National Forest Stakeholder Surveys - On December 8 and 9, Bureau staff did field surveys in the GWNF and met with a variety of stakeholders. These diverse groups of National Forest stakeholders are members of a collaborative committee which has been charged with developing a framework for a consensus alternative management proposal to the Land and Resource Management Plan for the GWNF. The purpose of the field surveys was to view and assess proposed wilderness and national scenic areas, and find common ground where these proposed sites could be integrated with active timber and wildlife management zones. This committee will continue meeting in the weeks ahead as it refines a management proposal for the Forest Supervisor.
