Getting primed and ready for bowhunting season is like gearing up any other physical activity. For starters, you can’t expect your muscles to pull the full poundage of a bow as soon as the season begins. To reach the maximum pulling power of you bow requires a combination of exercising the muscles used to pull the bow and simply avoiding overextending your current physical limitations.

The experts suggest building up gradually, first using a lower poundage pull. For example, if you use a 70-pound bow consider adjusting the pull to 60 pounds or slightly more early in the season.
